Guitar C Shape E Major

The A shaped bar chord and the E shaped bar chord are quite familiar to guitarists. Other bar chord shapes appear in most forms of popular music, most commonly jazz. However rock, pop and blues also feature different bar chord shapes from time to time. This is a great tool for expanding guitar playing and bringing new sonic variances to songs. In other words, using a different version of a chord makes a song sound different. Try out the chord below. The root note is the pinky finger note. Just like your open C Major chord do not hit the top string. You may take a little time to get used to swapping to and from this chord smoothly, but after a bit of practice it's not really that difficult. Try using this chord in any song you know that has an E Major chord. Practice holding this shape and playing up and down the neck. There's some cool ideas for you.
